The Future Takes the Ice: Minnesota Mallards Main Camp Returns July 23–26

The next chapter of Minnesota Mallards hockey begins July 23–26, as some of the top junior hockey talent from across North America arrives in Forest Lake for the 2026 Minnesota Mallards Main Camp.

This isn’t just another hockey camp—it’s where opportunities are earned, careers begin, and the future of the Mallards is built.

Over four exciting days, invited players will battle for every shift, every puck, and every chance to impress the Mallards coaching staff. With roster spots, future opportunities, and a place in the organization’s plans on the line, fans can expect an incredible level of intensity and competition.

Building Something Special

The Minnesota Mallards continue to build a culture centered around player development, hard work, and opportunity. Every camp brings together talented athletes who dream of advancing to the next level, and Main Camp is where those dreams begin to become reality.

For returning players, it’s an opportunity to prove they’ve taken the next step in their development.

For newcomers, it’s their first chance to show they belong in a Mallards sweater.

Every drill, every scrimmage, and every game matters.

More Than a Tryout

The Mallards Main Camp is designed to evaluate more than just skill.

Coaches are looking for players who compete every shift, play the game the right way, and demonstrate the character needed to help build a winning culture. Speed, hockey IQ, work ethic, leadership, and coachability will all be on display throughout the weekend.

The players who separate themselves won’t simply be the most talented—they’ll be the ones who embrace the opportunity.

The Bright Future of the Mallards

As the organization continues to grow, excitement surrounding the Minnesota Mallards has never been higher.

The vision is clear: develop elite players, compete every night, and establish the Mallards as one of the premier organizations in the North American Hockey League.

Each season adds another layer to that foundation, and this year’s Main Camp represents another major step forward. The players who earn their place this July will help define the identity of the 2026–27 Minnesota Mallards.

For fans, it’s an exciting glimpse into the future.

For players, it’s the opportunity they’ve been working toward their entire lives.

Earn Your Spot

From July 23–26, Forest Lake will become home to one of the most competitive weekends of hockey of the summer. Every shift matters. Every battle counts. Every player has something to prove.

The future of the Minnesota Mallards starts here.

If you’re ready to compete against elite talent and earn your opportunity, don’t wait—Main Camp is just around the corner.

Minnesota Mallards Announce Team To Compete in 2024-25 NAHL Season

Forest Lake, MN — The North American Hockey League’s (NAHL) Board of Governors has approved a membership to operate in Forest Lake, MN.

The Minnesota Mallards will compete in the Central Division beginning in the 2024-25 season. The Mallards are the fourth NAHL team based in Minnesota.

“As a successful businessman, I look forward to putting my skills and experience to work as an owner within the North American Hockey League,” Charles Bailey said. Aside from business, Bailey has a deep passion for leading and coaching youth sports. Over the last 15 years he has volunteered thousands of hours coaching kids in hockey, baseball and softball. “My family and I are very excited to give back to the Twin Cities hockey communities, and the Mallards are just the first step in our collective vision.”

Forest Lake, which is a northeast suburb of Minneapolis-St. Paul, will be the home of the Mallards. The team will play out of the Forest Lake Sports Center. The Mallards will bear the colors Maroon and Gold.

The teams’ General Manager, A.J. Bucchino, is a strong leader and coach with a successful track record training and leading hockey players and teams from youth to Juniors. Bucchino spent more than four years in the NAHL and was the former GM and Head Coach of the Minnesota Magicians. “We are excited to bring a team to Forest Lake, MN and the twin cities area,” Bucchino said. “Our location will provide consistent exposure within the twin cities area for motivated hockey players striving to play collegiate and professional hockey. Our focus will be on our player’s physical, psychological, and emotional development to help them reach their goals. Together, we will hold ourselves to the highest standards in our quest to build a highly successful and competitive program.”

“The league continues to attract quality and capable ownership that always puts the development of the player first,” NAHL Commissioner and President Mark Frankenfeld said. “The team location by itself will put the Mallards and every visiting team’s players right in the cross-hairs of college and professional scouts. It’s a tremendous opportunity for everyone involved and we look forward to watching them get to work.”
