The Minnesota Mallards have officially wrapped up training camp, bringing an exciting and highly competitive week of hockey to a close as the organization turns its attention toward the 2026-27 NAHL season.
From the opening skate to the final session, the intensity was high. Players competed every day for opportunities, pushed one another on and off the ice, and brought the type of energy the Mallards want to carry throughout the upcoming season.
Competition From Start to Finish
Training camp provided our coaching staff with an opportunity to evaluate a talented group of players in a competitive environment. Every drill, practice, workout, and scrimmage gave players another chance to show what they could bring to the team.
The pace continued to rise throughout camp as players battled for roster spots and roles. That competition is an important part of building the culture we want in Minnesota — one where players hold each other accountable, compete every day, and understand that nothing is given.
As camp comes to an end, there is plenty to be excited about. The talent and work ethic on display gave us a glimpse of what this group can become as we continue building toward opening night.
Ready for the Season
Now, the focus shifts toward the regular season.
The Mallards open the 2026-27 season on September 11 at 7:00 PM at Forest Lake Sports Center against the Kenai River Brown Bears.
There is still work to be done before the puck drops, but the excitement surrounding this group continues to grow. We can’t wait to see our players compete together, represent the Mallards, and continue building a team and culture our fans and community can be proud of.
More Than Hockey
This season, one of our biggest priorities is strengthening the Mallards’ connection with the surrounding community.
We want our players and organization to be more involved throughout the Forest Lake area and beyond. Whether it’s attending community events, working with local organizations, supporting youth hockey, or simply giving fans more opportunities to connect with our players, we want the Mallards to be a team that makes an impact beyond the rink.
The support of our fans, billet families, sponsors, volunteers, rink staff, and local community makes junior hockey possible, and we want to give that support back throughout the season.
