Minnesota Mallards (NAHL) – Associate Coach (Full-Time)
The Minnesota Mallards (NAHL) are seeking a full-time Associate Coach to join our junior hockey program. We are looking for a motivated, passionate, and experienced coach who is committed to developing student-athletes on and off the ice while helping build a championship culture.
This is a full-time position that requires extensive travel with the team throughout the season.
Position Summary
The Associate Coach will work directly with the Head Coach and Hockey Operations staff to support all aspects of the team’s daily operations, player development, recruiting, practice planning, game preparation, and team travel. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, an excellent teacher of the game, and someone who thrives in a fast-paced junior hockey environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and conducting all team practices.
- Help prepare game plans, video breakdowns, and scouting reports.
- Coach during games and assist with bench management.
- Develop players both on and off the ice.
- Recruit and evaluate prospective junior hockey players.
- Coordinate with billet families and support player welfare when needed.
- Travel with the team for all league games, showcases, and events.
- Assist with equipment, team logistics, and daily hockey operations.
- Promote a positive, disciplined, and professional team culture.
- Support community engagement and organizational events.
Qualifications
- Previous coaching experience in **Junior Hockey and/or Collegiate Hockey** is required.
- Strong understanding of player development and modern coaching strategies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel extensively throughout the season.
- Passion for mentoring young athletes and helping them reach the next level.
- USA Hockey coaching certification (or ability to obtain) preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel.

Compensation
Compensation is competitive and will be based on experience plus commissions. Additional benefits and team-related travel expenses will be discussed during the interview process.
